The following poem was written in honor of Rev. Marvin G. Walker, my pastor, for pastor appreciation 2010. This is not an "I wish you could be this kind of pastor" poem, but a "thank you for exemplifying this kind of pastor" poem.
PASTOR'S APPLES
Apples of gold in silver baskets—
That’s what my words should be
The beauty and light of Jesus
Indwelling, reflecting in me
Guard my thoughts and tongue, dear Lord—
Only life-giving words outspoken
Mercy and truth met together
Restoration for that which is broken
